Renewable energy minigrids for energy access
Minigrids provide a reliable, sustainable and cost-effective electricity supply in rural and peri-urban communities with limited energy access that combine renewable energy generation and electricity distribution and metering. They enable energy services for productive uses, public institutions (health, education), water treatment, telecommunications, etc.

Our minigrid systems

Solar energy is the most common and universal source we use, although we have also implemented projects with wind and small-hydro power. Our general approach is to carry out a combined project within a given Service Area: the minigrid for users with higher energy demands and off-grid PV power plants and Solar kits for those users who are farther away or have lower needs, guaranteeing a universal solution adapted to the local reality. We design modular and scalable PV generation plants, allowing for rapid expansion according to the demands of the community.

Where applicable, we prioritize low or very low voltage distribution grids to simplify operation in remote areas and reduce risks, where possible. In addition, we support the inclusion of internal wiring and basic electrical equipment as part of the projects to ensure the project brings impact. We promote the development of productive uses of electricity and in all projects we adopt a sustainability approach, including the management of electrical and electronic waste (both waste that is specific to the energy infrastructure and the electrical equipment it will bring).

What the energy supplied by minigrids enables

Provision of reliable electric service, with more hours of service, improving the quality of life of communities and individuals.
Reducing dependence on fossil fuel generation, thus reducing pollution and GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions and promoting a cleaner and noise-free environment.
Promotion of local economic development, job creation, encouraging entrepreneurship and favoring the improvement of basic services such as education and health.
